FCMB EXPANDS BOARD, EMPLOYS FORMER BARCLAYS BANK DIRECTOR AS COO

First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) has expanded its management composition and Board of Directors to include some internationally acclaimed banking professionals in the light of recent international partnerships signed with Sabre Capital Worldwide and global expansionary strategy being embarked upon by the bank.

These prominent international bankers who have joined the bank include Anurag Saxena, former Barclays Bank’s Director (Strategic Initiatives and Innovations, Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean) and Nigel Kenny, former Group Finance Director of Standard Chartered Bank Plc. While Anurag Saxena resumes in the bank as the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Managing Director, Nigel Kenny joins the Board as a non-executive director.

Anurag Saxena joins FCMB with over 17 years of banking experience spanning areas of marketing and banking operations like sales, distribution, product development, strategy and Information Technology, which cut across some notable international banks in the world. Apart from Barclays Bank where he last worked as the Director in charge of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation for the whole of Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean, Anurag had earlier served as Assistant vice-President, Investment and Liability Products, Mashreq Bank in the UAE, where he was responsible for the development of several products including the hugely successful ‘Mashreq Millionaire’. He was also marketing head for Standard Chartered Bank in the Middle East, Far East and Africa; and Territory Operations Manager, Middle East and Europe – NRI Business, Citigroup. He holds a BE from the Regional Institute of Technology, India, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He is also a member of IIAC, ICMQ and FCIM.

Nigel Kenny who currently serves as a non-executive director on the board of FCMB is an alumnus of the University of Surrey, from where he obtained a Bsc. degree in physics (1st Hons.) and a doctorate in theoretical physics.Nigelbegan his career with PriceWaterHouse and possesses extensive banking experience spanning almost two decades and covering UK/Europe, Middle & Far East Asia and Africa.

He worked with Standard Chartered Plc London from 1992 – 2002 and held various positions including Group Executive Director – Finance.

Nigel also worked with Chase Manhattan N.A., where he was vice-President and Area Audit Manager, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

He will help develop and implement consumer banking strategy oversee and advise on commercial banking, identify and place senior international bankers (with proven track in emerging markets) in operations, risk and consumer banking; private equity fund; assist in capital raising, to fund domestic and regional expansion; and guide expansion strategy within Africa.
